I had always brushed away Instagram, entirely in ignorance of repeated articles and blogs I had always come across which made it conspicious that Instagram is the social network of today. I decided to give it a try, and man, is it powerful!
One fine day, I decided I’d give it a try. A couple of weeks and much experimentation (still ongoing) later, Instagram is now my primary social network.
This is my story of migrating most of my daily social media work to Instagram.
There are several reasons why Instagram has quickly overtaken my other social media profiles as my primary one.
- It is damn easy to share on Instagram. Just a smartly worded/captured graphic and a short caption is all it takes to post on Instagram. It’s easy, it’s fast and it’s highly engaging. No wonder I keep posting on Instagram all day.
Compared to Facebook and Google+, where you have to take trouble to write a post, Instagram makes it all feel like a breeze.
- Engagement is very high on Instagram. Let’s just put my money where my mouth is.
- Instagram has an awesome community catering to my niche.
Google+ was originally my forte. But increasingly, I’m moving all my social media to my phone. Good news, thanks to the omnipresent rivalry between Google and Microsoft, there isn’t a Google+ app for my Windows Phone. And neither is there any good client. Each and every single other social media service I use has an official app or a good client for Instagram.
Quite naturally, since I’m too lazy to open my PC after doing everything on my phone, this has forced me to migrate my niche to Instagram and Facebook. Compared to Facebook’s general trash, I find Instagram’s niche far more suited to my tastes.
What I Am Up To
My present strategy for using Instagram is rather simple, so far as posting is concerned. My Instagram should be a sneak peek into what I am up to in life. Be it reading an awesome book, pondering something, reading a quote, sharing amazing articles I keep reading everyday, and so on.
Here’s my Portfolio.
I am a photographer by passion. Some of my photography, quite naturally, finds its way to Instagram.
There are some really awesome people on Instagram who keep posting wonderful quotes throughout the day. I make it a point to share at least one of these motivational quotes every day as a good morning message.
There are also some really amazing quotes in the many books and magazines I read, such as this one:
What I'm Pondering. Across the world and scattered throughout history, both ancient and contemporary history in the making, are innumerable examples where guardians and protectors turn oppressors. It is all too easy. And it's an evil every one of us should constantly avoid. Fighting evil shouldn't make one evil. #whatiamthinking
These and many more keep appearing on my Instagram profile all the time.
What I am Up To, Now on Instagram
I often share what I am up to with my life, which can be anything from feasting on an artistic delicacy such as this one…
To reading some wonderful article on the immense number of magazines and blogs on the Internet, such as these:
What I'm Reading: Why Power Brings Out Your True Self Another amazing article in the Nautilus that I'm reading right now. The gist of the matter is: power sets the human free. Devoid of constraints previously placed, the individual is able to express more of his true personality. In other words, if you want to know the true personality of someone, give them power. Read the entire story, and supporting evidence by following the link on my bio. Or, use this link: http://goo.gl/52VQzb #whatiamreading
What I'm Reading: Sam Altaman's experience interviewing 100 Trump supporters Trump supporters aren't just people who voted for a, well, Trump. They're live people with genuine concerns and fears. The gist of the matter, as it stands out, is that Trump was elected because he was the only one who would could bring to the forefront the voices of those who are supressed by the intellectual left elite of today as illegitimate. Liberals who rule the modern democratic voice can no longer afford to ignore the voices of those who do not conform to their values. They are citizens, and governance involves at least the realization that everyone needs to be listened to. Check my bio for the link to the story. Or, use this: http://goo.gl/yaGGVv #whatiamreading
There’s just too many of these delicacies that keep arriving in my mailbox all the time, far too many to include in this blog. Check out my Instagram for more like these.
Whenever I can, I take online courses and read books of my taste (there’s actually a long waiting list of books to be read on my table).
If they are particularly, I make sure to recommend them:
The University of Michigan is offering a free Massive Open Online Course on how to identify fake news, false/"alternative" facts. This couldn't have been more relevant today. Course begins April 21, 2017. One module, one week to complete. Check it out here: http://goo.gl/Wrz6M2 Interested in adding it to your CV? You may pay to get a verified, signed certificate. Enjoy! I'm in, of course. #whatiamstudying
Instagram is the go-to social network today, and rightly so. I fully intend to utilize it to its full potential, and I’m just getting started.
I don’t know about others, but my Instagram’s sole purpose is to share the good things in my life – the things I learn, enjoy and read with the rest of the world. Hop on to take it, if you will. You’re most welcome!

Announcing the Weekly Brief
Today, I am announcing a new feature I am calling the Weekly Brief.
I’ve already mentioned that Instagram has become my primary social network of choice. Compared to my daily posting routine on Instagram, my posting routine on Google+ has almost entirely faded into oblivion. Sad. Google+ was where I learnt social media marketing and how to build connections.
For those of you who have been loyal followers of my WordPress blog and Google+ profile, I do not intend to disappoint. For you, a person who values long-reads and deep reflection, is the Weekly Brief.
The Weekly Brief will be a compilation of everything I’ve done and shared on Instagram throughout the week, curated, edited and added to, especially for you. It’s my suggestions for you to read, explore and learn from; curated from content I’ve explored over the span of the week.
